Back to the Blog

August 25, 2007

Despite having blatantly neglected this blog for several months, I am still alive and kicking! The girls are all doing well and the grandchildren are growing like weeds (the pretty variety of course, like Queen Anne’s Lace). Work has been crazy busy, particularly the past few months, and I’ve been living for the summer in a wonderful little cottage on Lake Michigan (more about that in a future post). Okay, that is not really a valid part of the excuse since I did have wireless access and my laptop, but who lives on the computer when evening beach-walks and unlimited sunset photos are right outside the door? You can check out some of those gorgeous sunsets at my Flickr:

But things are beginning to quiet down and I’ve been working on consolidating a few blogs in an attempt to de-clutter and simplify my web presence. So here I am with lots to say and a fresh new design. It feels very clean. After some code-tweaking and hunting around for widgets that behave like I want them to, I’m feeling pretty good about it. There is a lot to do here yet, pages to set up and my blogroll is in desperate need of some housecleaning, but all in time.

Right now I am trying to import my Blogger posts from the past 4 years into this blog. So far, no success. After successfully upgrading my WordPress installation to version 2.2 last night, I was optimistic about the import as there is now a nifty import widget built right into the admin panel. But even after converting the old Confessions Of December blog to a blogspot account and moving it off my main Blogger account to isolate it, I continue to receive errors when attempting the import. A quick search at the WordPress support forum indicates I am not the only one having this problem — misery loves company, eh?
